Before I post my last two babies pictures and stories, I just wanted all of you out there to know why I am posting two different pups at the same time. I know that during week 10, I do what I have to do with homework and then take the rest of the time to relax before the new term starts. So I wanted to post the last two babies this week when everyone is still going strong. LOL
This is Chewy, short for chewbakka (not sure how to spell that, not a fan of star wars). He is the son of Fancy Jean and his Dad is....holy smokes I do not remember who his Dad was. Bad Mommie, lol. Chewy is our other dominant male. He tries real hard to be the biggest dog but Bert usually beats him at it. We have to still get our boys fixed but for now they fight a bit. Chewy is usually the one that lays down after a while but since he is so hairy, he is the one that usually does not get hurt. This picture makes him look crazy but I just caught him off guard LOL. He was out of one of our many litters and we did not plan on keeping him in our little family BUT my friend Trina had just been released from prison and b/c of that she did not really have anything that was really her own. So when she came to live with us, I let her have Chewy as her very own. But she had to potty train him and teach him things and she did a great job! Long story way shorter, she ended up getting in trouble and having to move to Reno and live in a half way house and could not take Chewy with her. He already knew our family, our house and was doggie door trained so I kept him. When she first left, I did not realize that he was addicted to coffee. She would let him drink her coffee every morning and I had a heck of a time keeping him out of mine LOL. When she left, he was so upset that he kind of went into hiding mode, it took a very long time to get him to come out of his shell. He would not come to anyone but me and would hide and cower when anyone else would come near him. He has since became a very good dog, he now comes to almost everyone and I know that he really loves his family and life.
This is a little bit older picture of Chewy but I wanted to get one on here that didn't show his crazy eyes LMAO! He is about 6 years old and my husband just told me that his Dad is Bert. LOL The things my old lady brain forgets.
This is our beautiful, slender, muscular baby girl Star. We adopted her a few years ago from our local pound. As far as we knew she was under a year when we adopted her. The pound lady found her tied up in a families back yard with no food and no water and no family! The family had up and moved out of state and left her behind. She was there for so long that she was eating her own poop, ya gross but true. That is what kept her alive. We were not really interested in adopting another dog but I have this habit of going to the pound and looking when I am bored so thats how I found her. We had another pure breed rat terrier named
Boo Boo, they look almost identical. He was taken from us one winter, along with our pitbull Sadie. The neighborhood dumbsh*ts said that they thought she was a coyote and shot her and stole Boo Boo. So when I saw her and nobody was interested in adopting her AND she was within a day of being put to sleep, I knew we had to take her in. I had second thoughts but my husband saw her too and fell in love. When we were trying to name her, the hubby wanted to name her Rose, I said NO WAY that is an old dog name and Star is always wanting to be the center of attention so naturally she got the name Star LOL. Just a little tip, if you have a dog that is eating their own poop, you can break them really easy by feeding them a few pieces of pineapple. It makes their poop very, very stinky and nasty and they no longer will eat it. Sorry for soo many "poops" in this post but it was necessary LOL.
This is a picture of Star when we first added her to our family (I think). I cannot remember the exact date of when we adopted her. Another part of her story that I have to tell is when we first adopted her we wanted to get her fixed right away. We did not want any more litters of puppies. Before we took her to get fixed, I was rubbing on her belly and felt some lumps. I am in no way a vet or anything of the sort but I have had hundreds of dogs, zillions of litters of puppies and know a good deal about my babies and I could swear she was pregnant. We took her right away to the vet to find out for sure. The day we took her in, a old, old guy was subbing for my regular vet. I told him about what I felt and he felt around a little and told us that she was NOT pregnant, there was no way so he went ahead and gave her all her shots and sent us home. Well about 1 week later, Star went into labor and had two huge puppies. I was so pissed off at that vet for not listening. I called the clinic and told them what happened and come to find out, I was not the first or last that had major complaints about that old guy. He will never be called to work for them again! I told them ok but what about these puppies, are they going to be ok b/c they gave her all those shots while pregnant. Because she was so far along, thank goodness, the puppies were not hurt or affected by the shots. We found them wonderful homes with some elderly folks. I can also give a little more advice: when you own a small dog, like a terrier, when they are pregnant they hold the pups up in their rib cage more than their bellies. So if you think your small dog is pregnant, hold them in your lap and push down a little bit on their ribs and feel for little lumps. If you feel some lumps, most likely they are pregnant. Ok, I also have to add something cute about Star, she wants attention ALL the time and will not go away unless you blow on her. Yes, I said blow on her. She hates any kind of wind in her face or on her body. She is the only dog I have ever seen that thinks blowing on her is like pushing her away. It is the cutest thing. I hope everyone out there that has kept up with my endless stories, enjoyed them! I will post more pictures next week.
I love them. They are so cute. Thanks for all of the puppy raising tips. I just heard one the other day so, I will share it with you. If you dog is nippy..tickle the roof of their mouth. It will put them right down on the floor and they will stop nipping. Good luck as you continue on with your studies.
